Our hearts go out to all those affected by Hurricane Helene. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing community for the overwhelming support and food donations for our Jackson County neighbors in need. Your generosity truly makes a difference during this challenging time.
We rely heavily on MANNA Food Bank in Asheville for our food supplies. Unfortunately, with the distribution center being destroyed, we currently have no way of knowing when we will be able to start ordering food from them again.
We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we navigate this situation together.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me
United Christian Ministries was founded in 1989 by a group of Jackson County churches who wanted to create a central location to provide residents with food and other assistance. Our mission is to unite Jackson County resources, according to the call of Jesus Christ, to minister to the needs of our neighbors. We serve all people who reside in Jackson County, NC regardless of income. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, funded by donations and grants. We are governed by a Board of Directors, have two staff members, and are supported by dozens of volunteers.

UCM provides a client-choice food pantry offering fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods, rice, pasta, frozen meats, bakery items, and more. We are the only agency in the county providing personal items such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, diapers, etc. UCM provides financial assistance for past due critical bills such as rent, power, water, heating, and small medical bills. Financial assistance is provided once per year.
You can help by volunteering in the pantry or by donating to UCM. Drop off in-date food donations and personal items to our building at 191 Skyland Drive, or place donations in the UCM cart inside Sylva's Food Lion store or Harold's Supermarket in Dillsboro. To support UCM financially, please mail a check to us at P.O. Box 188, Sylva, NC 28779; or donate online.
